What are ECTS?
ECTS stands for "European Credit Transfer System" and is a standardized credit unit that helps transfer grades between national and international academic institutions. The use of ECTS replaces the former system of "semester hours per week".
ECTS inform about the amount of work required to successfully complete a class. 1 ECTS in Austria approximates 25 hours (60 minutes) of workload in one semester (about 15 weeks of classes).
Each curriculum suggests to complete 30 ECTS per semester so that students can finish in the prescribed minimum duration of studies.
