Dear students,

In general, it is advisable to take all first semester language classes
within the first semester (3 language classes and one lecture class)
before passing to the second semester. If students only attend some of
these classes, it is likely that they do not obtain a sufficient level to
pass the second semester.

If students were not able to enroll for all classes because they are still
waiting for their admission notice, please contact our staff
(wirtschaft.ostasien@univie.ac.at) for a written confirmation that your
admission process is ongoing. In that case, you will still have the chance
to register for all Chinese classes this semester. Please do this within
this week!

Students who are not able to speak German can substitute the (German)
lecture class ‘VO Theorie und Praxis’ for the additional exercise course
‘Repetitorium zu Theorie und Praxis der chinesischen Schrift und Sprache’
(both 4 ECTS). Please contact Stefanie Yu (stefanie_yu@yahoo.com.tw) for
admission to the class.

If you feel unable to communicate with your language teacher in English,
please contact the deputy study program director for Chinese Studies Ao.
Prof. Agnes Schick-Chen (agnes.schick-chen@univie.ac.at) within this week!
